Le Cinéma Remoderniste by Florian Maricourt

A university study of Remodernist cinema, preserved as a downloadable document
By Florian Maricourt · Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris III · 2014 · In French
Le Cinéma Remoderniste: histoire et théorie d’une esthétique contemporaine is the Master’s thesis of the French filmmaker Florian Maricourt, written under the direction of the film scholar Nicole Brenez and defended at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris III in June 2014. Across two hundred and forty-four pages it traces the history and theory of the Remodernist film movement — the current announced by Jesse Richards’s 2008 manifesto — in which the early work of Rouzbeh Rashidi and the Experimental Film Society figures prominently.
As a complete academic study in French, it is preserved here in its original form rather than converted into a web article. Maricourt’s related essay written with Théo Deliyannis, Propositions pour une étude nivologique du cinéma, is available in EFS Publications as a web article.
